- PMI® gives each certificate applicant 365 days to take and pass their exam. If an applicant fails their exam, PMI® allows the applicant to retake two more times during the 365 days. If the exam is still not passed, PMI® will not authorize another attempt for one (1) year.
First Failure: After the first failed attempt at the exam, the student must complete the course again in full. The second course session will be free of charge, after the student provides proof of failure from the test session or PMI®. The second exam must be taken within two (2) months of the first failure.
Second Failure: After the second failed attempt at the exam, the student must complete the course again in full. The third course session will be free of charge, after the student provides proof of failure from the test session or PMI®. The third exam must be taken within two (2) months of the second failure.
